Ice Fishing

This past weekend we went ice fishing with our friends Robie and Kurt and their two dogs, Lucy and Emily. Tyler and Garrett love the outdoors and like to fish even though Justin and I are not really into fishing. Justin likes to go out and play. We take the four wheelers and sleds and the boys have fun. When we were out on Saturday, the ice was 12 inches thick. It's a little unnerving when you hear the ice creak and groan. It was really noisy after a car drove by our little ice shack. Robie and Kurt brought a couple of hockey sticks and a hockey puck so the boys played a little ice hockey. Tyler would fall down when going after the puck. He would just giggle and get up and continue on. The boys like to help Robie and Kurt fish. Garrett sat down for about 10 minutes holding a pole trying to catch a fish. Tyler could not be outdone by his brother so he sat for a little bit but not as long as Garrett. We only caught one fish. Robie was reeling it in and it fell off at the bottom of the hole so Kurt stuck his hand in the water and grabbed the fish. Once the fish was out of the water, Garrett carried it around for awhile. The fish was still alive, moving its fin and Garrett would hold it. Once Garrett even licked the fish. YUCK!!! His mom was gagging and telling him no. We had to take the fish away because Garrett kept trying to put the fish back into the water. The boys played on the sleds and four wheelers and had a good time. Before the fish was caught, we grilled hotdogs and drank hot chocolate and just had fun. Garrett had so much fun and fresh air that he fell asleep while riding the four wheeler. All in all, it was a good time and the boys can't wait till we can go ice fishing again.

Great new blog look! Ya'll are looking wonderful!

I never could get into ice fishing either. My dad invites me every year (it's one of his favorite things to do), but I'm not a big fan of sitting on ice in the freezing cold... jsut sitting... waiting... and listening as the ice cracks beneath me jsut wanting to devour me! Not a pleasant thought. I'd do the four-wheeling thing though, that sounds like a blast!
